FAQ for parents

When does my child race?

On the Sunday prior to the CSSRA regatta the preliminary draw will be posted on our website. Events with heats and semi finals will start on Friday. Events with only heats will be raced on Saturday. Sunday racing is for finals only. The new draw for each day is posted on our website the evening prior to racing.

Where can I watch the races?

The boathouse and athlete tents/trailers are on Henley Island. From the Island you will be able to watch the middle 1000m of the races. In order to watch the crews cross the finish line you need to be in the grandstand located beside 65 Main Street, St. Catharines. Both of these venues are accessed by the same all access wristband. Please stay away from the shell launching area. This is for Athletes, Coaches and Officals Only!

Some of the races will be on Facebook live from our page Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association. Our page is a good source for up to the minute regatta information and great photos.

Is there live streaming of races?

We will have static web cameras on the finish line and in other spots on the race course. We are working towards being able to produce and stream racing in the near future.

Where can we purchase really cool t-shirts & merch?

The alumni booth on the island offers a variety of apparel, souvenirs & commemorative posters.

Where can I park?

Henley Island: Shhh don’t tell everyone but… by making a right turn (instead of left) after the bridge and driving all the way around the hill you will access the best place to park.  The grassy field offers a good view of the course, good proximity to vendors and the only place that your fur baby* can be on Henley Island. (Do not block our Fire Lanes)

Parking for the Grandstand is on city streets. Watch for signs and pavement markings. There is no charge to park but please be courteous to our neighbours. Do not block their driveways or our ambulance laneways.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are not allowed in the rowing compound area or in the grandstand. Service animals with the proper credentials are permitted.  The family dog can watch crews cross the finish line on Renee Island located beside the finish tower (with you, of course).

What are the Entry Fees for spectators?

The all access wristband is purchased using cash at the gates, from the Canadian Henley Rowing Corporation. The funds help maintain this world class rowing venue which we use each year.

How did my child do?

Live Results can be found on m.regattamaster.com. Results are posted each night on our cssra.ca website.

What happens in bad weather?

We will post any important updates to our social media sites.

How can I volunteer?

There is a volunteer Form on our website. Sign up and a committee member will contact you. Volunteers receive an amazing gift and attend an appreciation BBQ at the end of racing on Sunday.

Is there food available?

Most famous for their regatta hot dogs, the HIH booth, run by volunteers, serves up breakfast and lunch both on the island and at the grandstand. All profits return to the sport of rowing.  This is a cash only vendor. Other food vendors may be available to athletes and spectators on Henley Island.
